A Message from Wes Clark February 4, 2004
I'm writing to you from Memphis, Tennessee -- fresh off our victory in Oklahoma and very strong second place finishes across the country. Last night, we bested John Edwards in 4 out of 7 contests and won delegates in more states than anyone but John Kerry.
More than 200,000 voters supported us yesterday -- and, today, a three-man race for the Democratic nomination is on. And with you, we're standing strong.
These are real numbers, the real results of your support.
While the pundits counted us out of this race after the dramatic Iowa caucuses, and then again after our strong showing in New Hampshire, you have proved them wrong. By counting me out, they mistakenly counted you out. They tried to silence your voice. But last night, your voice was heard loud and clear.
Let them hear your voice again today, and every day until we win the nomination. Please support our campaign today!
All eyes are now focused on the primaries that lie ahead. Each state offers a new challenge and a new opportunity. You and I will face them together, head-on, and we will win.
But I can't do it without you. I need your financial support.
As we saw last night, your investment in our campaign is paying off. To continue, each of us must recommit ourselves to our cause -- giving even more generously of our time, our talents, and our resources.
If you haven't donated before, please give whatever you can, and join the ranks of more than 60,000 Americans who have pledged their financial support to our campaign so far. If you have contributed before, I thank you. But please contribute again -- now -- when I need you most.
Please contribute $25, $50, or more to fuel our campaign today.
No matter what the pundits say, there's still a long way to go in this race. 41 states have yet to vote, and more than 90% of the delegates are yet to be awarded. This race is a marathon, not a sprint.
Record voter turnout has the Bush Administration scared. The American people are eager for a new leader and a new direction, someone who's going to look out for the national interest, not the special interests. They want an outsider, not another Washington politician. They are looking for someone who can defeat George W. Bush and who has the proven experience to lead in these challenging times. Thanks to your efforts, they are supporting our campaign -- built upon the hope, the vision, and the idealism of you and millions of our fellow citizens.
We're here today because we know that America can do better, and we must. Our best days are still ahead, and we must keep pushing forward. We can't stop now. I need your support today.
With great appreciation,
Wes Clark
P.S. Help us raise $700,000 in the next seven days to win the next set of primary states. |
