The GOP has smeared trial lawyers as a general group.
In fact, they are called litigators and if a big rich company rips you off or seriously damages you, the little guy, these lawyers are your only hope of justice.

I used one once against a major company and found him very ethical, though expensive. He helped me recoup some of my losses, which were very substantial. The question you really need to ask is, if we got rid of litigators and the right to sue big companies, would we be better off? Of course not. We would be much worse off. The real issue is frivolous lawsuits which everyone agrees ought to be minimized using fines and penalties against repeat offenders. Once the lawyers know there is a price to pay for cases without merit, they will be more scrutinizing.
