re:Sorry...

Oh, you needn't feel sorry. Its actually quite a blessing:

1) So much time is wasted in public schools due to transportation, logistics, the poor student-to-teacher ratio, and repetition of last year's material that our kids have MUCH more time to delve into any particular area and/or non-school activities.

2) We can vacation ANY time we please without worrying about the public school schedule.

3) WE control outside influences; not dependent on the ability of school administrators who effectively have their hands tied behind their backs wrt discipline.

4) They do at least 2 field trips/month (theater, museums, factory tours, etc.). Public school kids are lucky to get one per year.

5) Both our kids hit the 99th percentile on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills this year.

Too bad my wife (who does it all) doesn't get compensated for helping the state provide educational services. And too bad that the NEA continues to take the position that homeschooling is somehow bad for children, despite ALL evidence to the contrary (but what else to expect from a teacher's union). Kind of makes you wonder how all those pioneer kids could have ever made anything of themselves.
