Friedman is smoking that Oslo weed again. These are not Palestinian moderates. There are no moderates on the Palestinian stage, and Sharon certainly cannot empower any unless he can do a regime change in Ramallah. The whole scenario is as dumb as talking about empowering Iraqi moderates while Saddam Hussein was still in power.

Once again, only the Israelis are the "moving figure". The poor poor Pals just can't do anything, can't reform their government, can't let their finance minister do his job, can't reorder the security services, can't stop the suicide bombers, can't even call a two week truce with Hamas. They're so helpless, let's cry boo-hoo for them.

Well in that case, let's talk about a permanent Israeli Mandate of Palestine, because it's obviously the only way to ever install a non-terrorist government in the territories.
