T, Well, I think the problem was that we were really fighting for civilization in WWII. In Korea, we were fighting to protect a pretty bad dictator from a worse dictator. And, in Vietnam, we were protecting the worse dictator from a pretty bad dictator (who still made a mean cake. Uncle Ho had been a top pastry chef in Paris. <G>)

So, I think we are still samurai warriors if the the threat is important. But, it's kind of hard to whip up a "kill or be killed" attitude about some of the causes we have had to fight for since WWII.
