Go back and read the post I was responding to. The poster was talking about Reagan's invasions vs. Bush's invasions. All of which happened in the past 20 or so years. That was his timeframe, not mine.

And what is an "undesirable dictatorial republic", do you think? Is there a "desirable" variety?

You'll have to ask the poster who introduced the term. His term, not mine. But if you believe Plato, yes, there can be a desirable dictatorial republic as long as the dictator is a philosopher-king. In fact, he claimed that was the best form of government. Don't argue with me about it, though -- argue with Plato. <g>
