Instinet To Complete INET Rollout
InstitutionalInvestor.com
February 5, 2004

Instinet Group will complete the consolidation of Instinet ECN and Island ECN books into a single liquidity pool called INET as of Monday. Institutional customers could trade the securities on Instinet's Continuous Block Crossing (CBX) and Proactive SmartRouter Technology. "This gives institutions the ability to trade listed or Nasdaq stocks with one another," said Michael Plunkett, president of Instinet's North America Division.
He noted that institutions like the approach use for Instinet CBX because in the primary markets, exposing information could result in a market impact. Market participants such as day traders and brokers are excluded from CBX.

"As of Feb. 9, we become completely market neutral and we will display your order on Archipelago Exchange, SuperMontage or Instinet," explained Plunkett. It allows institutions to access pools of liquidity and pro-actively display them.
