Re World Government:

<<Another layer of control might not really help much.>>>>>
We already have a form of world government if being effective is the object
The people below- the IMF ,the Group of 10 or Group of 7 banks, and Opec have significant control of world economy.
I dont think any of them will accept a higher level or authority unless they invent it themselves
Are we having a problem with these people that demands
a new ruling body?
The numerous levels of authority in the US are already a problem.
The IMF is probably the greatest life-saver in existence, because when an economy fails they they can support it before a total collapse happens and people die from starvation or lack of medical care.
Would the new world government be more effective in
establishing oil quotas or prices than OPEC which is fairly sensitive to supply and demand ?

I suppose the subject of a new world government arose here because of the Iraq conflict, yet no mention was made about it during Desert Storm.
If its because of a sensitivity for human lives, then we should consider what the world government would do about the earthquake in Iran that caused 35,000 casualties. Or the potential devastation of a bird-flu epidemic.
Is there something so defective about our medical organizations like the CDC that would call for a higher level of control?
The UN had it figured -14 resolutions- 14 condemnations
of Saddam for non compliance
The world has made marvelous progress in food production, in water distribution, in improved sanitation and in disease control. Without an Elite Supreme Ruler to
direct the operation or take the blame when things go wrong
There appears to be a problem with the UN that needs fixing. It is generally agreed that N Korea must stop its nuclear program. How should the UN deal with that, do they get involved, and if so what action is indicated and who should take it. ?
