So you essentially agree the verbatim record supports what I have already said & that your assumptions & sources were mostly wrong? No. I haven't made up my mind, though if it were not for you I probably would have. I can't yet tell. We have a clear record of what Bush said, and when I heard it a year ago, I and many fellow Americans, heard him to 'mean' that we can not wait because the threat is imminent. (Many protests focused on the absence of WMD as a reason for the protests.) Then Bush's 'voice of reason,' Colin Powell was trotted out and said, 'c'mon folks, they really got 'em. Believe me,' and a lot of people did. That is what APPEARED to happen. You MAY have the FACTS correct. We will see, but this is not about the facts. This is about APPEARANCES. It appears that there is a schism between the administration and the sources of its intelligence. It appears that Bush's justification for going to war never existed. It appears that George Bush misled his country. It appears that it was not on purpose. And it appears it was because he was given bad information. It appears that George Bush was not at 'fault,' but it appears that he is the captain of the team, and as such it appears that he is still responsible. The 'facts' may or may not prevail here. Facts are important. And in America, appearances frequently are more important than the facts. This is going to be interesting to watch.
