Thanks for the Welcome!

I am very active in my local Republican party politics (in a very Republican district) and I'm a former delegate to the Republican National Convention!

I think the GOP has cancer. There is no room left for moderates like me; especially on social issues.

Funny how things can change in a few months. In December, when I spoke to various groups, I said the Democratic nominee would win in November. EVERYONE said this was impossible, that Bush would win in a landslide, but they hoped I was right! I kept asking, if so many people hope I am right, how can Bush win? Now the polls are starting to show that Bush is in trouble.

Now I'd like to find some positive things to say about Kerry (that is why I am on this thread). It is easy to criticize Bush; he is a failure on almost every issue. But I would like to both point out Bush's failings and Kerry's strengths.

I also believe this is the most critical election of my life. And, as I always tell Republicans, I am an American first!

Best to all. Talk to your neighbors!

P.S. I was talking with a neighbor tonight (a couple of blocks away - I've already talked with everyone on my block). I asked if he was going to vote for Kerry if he was the nominee ... he said "I'd vote for Mickey Mouse over Bush!"
