Did Bush drop out of the National Guard to avoid drug testing?

I had never paid attention to any of this. I've never been able to warm up to muckraking. But you'd have to have been living in a vault not to hear the questions raised. Since the topic was raised here, when I saw a promo for a discussion about it on Paula Zahn, I checked it out. My goodness there are a lot of open questions! There are apparently no records of his service during those years.

I know that he has an official honorable discharge and, whatever bad habits or addictions he might have had, he has apparently recovered from them. I'm cool with that until and unless some actual evidence of dirt turns up. I'm not looking for it, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there's something to the rumors. Otherwise, the issue would have stabilized by now.
