Were you drinking too much of the water while in Australia? There was no Iridium launch failure. The first Iridium launch was delayed way back in December because the Delta II blew up carrying another satellite, there were no Iridium satellites on board. The satellite that lost communications is Motorola's responsibility and does not affect the Iridium project at all. They always had a plan to put extra satellites aloft for this exact possibility. A strategy I might add that Globalstar is scrambling to duplicate. I personally much prefer the sophisticated and expensive Iridium approach where they are doing things right the first time. They don't have to worry about updating their technology, it is already cutting edge. By the way, you may want to curb your excitement about some little satellite tracking station being completed until they get at least half of their birds up in the air, which Iridium will have by the end of September. I understand that Globalstar is using Chinese rockets for four launches of 12 satellites each to get their system up. The Chinese have always been a leader in technology, particularly space where they are more notorious for their rocket explosions than space exploration. If just one of those takes out 12 of your satellites old Bernie will have some serious explaining to do to stockholder's as their shares go down faster than those unfortunate satellites.

By the way, you previously made many comments about Motorola dropping Iridium in favor of M-Star, does this mean that Globalstar is a dead system soon to be replaced by Cyberstar?

Its good to have you back. The rest of the Globalstar supporters do not provide nearly as interesting discussions.
