Dear Laura,

Thanks for posting that article on the reprehensible and malicious attack on free speech in Iowa. The polarization of America is the great legacy of your husband's illegal activities. He's a uniter, all right. The Democrats and the decent and honorable (not to mention honest) Americans are coming together in their millions to eliminate the cancer in the White House.

All the worst aspects of America are represented by George Bush. Anti-intellectualism, repression, police state thuggery, intimidation, squelching of free speech, blatant lies, distortion and a record of the most severely un-American propaganda campaign in our nation's history will be recorded as your husband's legacy. It's a shameful record, starting from his abandonment of his duties in the Texas Air National Guard and continuing to this day.

Simply shameful.

BTW, did you happen to watch the Shrubbery on Meet the Press? I felt like I was living in a parallel universe. We all know that Sy Hersh and others have exposed the Office of Special Plans as the mutant cancer that perpetrated the fraudulent "intel" on Iraq, and led us into an act of international lawlessness and naked aggression. Karen Kwiatkowski, James Fallows and John R. MacArthur have written extensively about the fraud that Bush is perpetrating. Yet Tim Russert seemed utterly incapable of asking any questions beyond the completely superficial.

To make matters worse, C-SPAN has decided to reinforce the lie by foisting two of the most uncurious and sycophantic reporters on their viewing audience. Their noses could not be browner. Their mendacity any less complete.

How is this nation to survive the onslaught of outright lies, distortions and cover-up engaged in by our government and by its many apologists in a media which has gone bad?

Or are we as a nation to become the laughingstock of the world as we slide inexorably into the next phase of national delusion and psychosis?
