"That "all critical to U.S. military success in Afghanistan and Iraq" doesn't make any difference to you? "

First of all we would have had plenty of equipment for Afghanistan if we hadn't attacked Iraq. Kerry wasn't wrong if you look at sensible defense needs.

Kerry didn't figure on the reckless behavior of Bush when he voted back in the nineties. How would he have known a US President would make such careless mistakes and attack a country without credible evidence to back up his recklessness?............how could Kerry have known?

I have argued against attacking Iraq for well over a year. The longer this quagmire continues the more it looks like a fools game. Civil War is erupting and we have innocent lives caught in the middle...........just like another situation I lived through many years ago..........I have not forgotten my friends that were lost, injured and irreparably damaged emotionally.

Many of the gov't contracts to make equipment are pure pork and the money is squandered. Gov't contracts are highly lucrative and excessively overfunded. I heard a report that the Pentagon lost 3 trillion dollars in the last few years. I"ll try to find a confirmation of that.

I do know that the armed forces has told the gov't they didn't need various equipment and the gov't still funded the contracts to make it...............that's so some Congressman wouldn't lose the jobs in his district and lose a campaign contributor.

The system needs to be fixed. We don't spend too much on defense..............too much of what we spend is wasted and goes straight into the top executive's pockets.

Remember the 500 toilet seat?
