Welcome back to the BuzzFlash.com GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
Last week, we had to explain why we waited so long to honor Tom DeLay as a GOP hypocrite. If you remember, we were simply drop-jawed by the gargantuan task of taking on the fly-buzzing, steaming mountain of DeLay's hypocrisy.
Well, IF there's one person who could match and exceed the oozing, festering hypocrisy of Tom DeLay, it's this week's BuzzFlash honoree: the acting President of the United States, Dick "Darth Vader" Cheney.
Make no mistake about it, George W. Bush will be held accountable in the afterlife for his wretched sins, lies and betrayals as the front man for the Dick Cheney administration. But Bush is just the dummy in the sneering Cheney ventriloquism act.
So fond of the this image the public has of him, Cheney recently said:
He's not worried about his image as the secretive sculptor of Bush policies as he takes a more public role in the campaign. "What's wrong with my image?" he asked with a laugh.
Cheney said he's effective working behind the scenes and doesn't believe voters will choose the next president based on running mates. "Am I the evil genius in the corner that nobody ever sees come out of his hole?" he said. "It's a nice way to operate, actually."

Okay, nothing like a sobering shot of the truth from a guy who can't find the emergency brake to stop his continued brazen lies about Iraq.
Ya know, anyone who buys those rumors that Cheney might be dropped from the "Bush ticket" and replaced with Giuliani or Powell is forgetting one basic fact: Cheney IS the president. Junior is just a bumbling, dry drunk cowboy prop.
Remember it was Cheney who was in charge of finding the vice-president and decided to appoint himself to the position. Talk about a warning shot across the bow of Democracy. Who'd have known Halliburton's CEO was going to storm the ship and rape the country?
Which brings us to the immediate occasion for Cheney being designated the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the week. After being the director of -- and the mad genius behind --the Bush Cartel lies that led us into the Iraq war -- including intimidating visits to CIA headquarters -- Cheney is now assembling another cover-up "investigation" of his prevarications, deceptions and betrayals. That's right, according to the New York Times, Dick Cheney is picking the commission members who will look into why Americans were misled about Iraq's WMDs. That's kind of like the Godfather appointing Sonny, Michael and Fredo to investigate why there is organized crime in the city.
It's a pattern we know all too well from Cheney. Like, trying to appoint the war criminal and Republican loyalist, Henry Kissinger, to head the 9/11 "whitewash" commission. Like telling John Ashcroft -- wink, wink, nod, nod -- to find out who on Cheney's or Bush's staff outed a CIA operative, when all it would take would be for Cheney or Bush to find out themselves. Like instructing the Justice Department to bag a couple of Enron fish, but leave Ken Lay alone because he might spill the beans on Cheney and Bush. Like telling the Department of Defense to keep giving Halliburton contracts even though they are ripping off the taxpayers and our soldiers by overcharging for gas and underserving in cafeterias.
Dick Cheney and Tom DeLay could have a World Wrestling Federation match for champion hypocrite of the world. But even if DeLay pinned Cheney to the ground, Cheney would still have to be given the crown.
After all, Cheney is the most powerful man in the world -- the REAL President of the United States of America. Next time you see Bush open his mouth, look for Cheney's hands and see if his lips are moving.
Until next week, remember the BuzzFlash slogan: So many Republican Hypocrites, so little time.
Catch up with you soon.
