Del, I am not going to take the time to respond to each of the points in that long post. Suffice to say the following:
1. BUSH wants to turn the govt over to Iraq by 6/30/04. Thats a published date and we are doing everything we can to meet it. The REAL FEAR is that we may be acting HASTILY for political pressure purposes.
2. The HUMVEES is a sad situation, but being an offroader myself with a well built up vehicle, I can tell you you just dont SLAP ON HEAVY THINGS without building up the underneath to support it. Humvees were never designed to be armored vehicles, they were designed for rapid troop movement and good offroad capabilities. Iraq is a special situtation and the govt IS in the process of building special humvees for this purpose BUT it takes time. jdn
