Here in Massachusetts, where Irish (and Italian) politicians are coronated for life, Kerry seems to have mastered the system. I have to admit I have voted for him for Senator and I think he's done a decent enough job for the state, but he doesn't compare with Kennedy. I wouldn't vote for either for President as I don't believe either have the background or policy that can fit to a national leader.

As for President, Massachusetts really is separate and apart from the rest of the US, and I don't think Kerry will survive the smell test. His entire life seems to be played to being in the right place at the right time.

AS seems to be campaigning on SI for JFK. As I asked AS on another thread, put Bush's name on Kerry's resume and then put it in front of the conspiracy nuts. They'd have a real ball with this. I can just see some of the nutcakes saying that Heinz death should be re-opened. Why did Kerry go along with the perception that he was a JFK Irish Catholic. How about that throwing away the medals thing? Is it a George Washington type myth? Is the PT-109 like story embellished? Is he really Jewish? Are there little Israelis living in basement? Was he behind the Green Ketchup fiasco at Heinz to shore up his Irish "roots?"

Note - I don't like this approach and only mention it hoping that the screwy Bush haters realize how hypocritical they are.

It would be nice to have a campaign on issues but that will happen only if Edwards wins and there is a legitimate debate on the issues from both sides.

Right now - I believe most moderate voters, given a choice of Bush v "Bush is evil" will vote for Bush.
