I served in B co, 1st of the 12th, 1st Air Cav Div, of the U.S. Army. I was an enlisted man with an infantry MOS and I served in Vietnam from June of 69 to June of 1970. I've got the CIB, purple hearts and decorations for valor and I've seen young men REALLY die, alone, far from home and for ends which did NOT require their deaths.
As I've said, it's not that big a deal until someone comes along and claims they've been there and done that, and then they strike all the wrong notes. We should never send our young to die unless the cause is just, the mission is doable, and THERE IS NO OTHER WAY. I think that Bush, Jlallen and a lot of others would see things differently if they were going to be the ones coming home in body bags, or if their kids were.
Those who think the military all support the hawks might be surprised to talk to some real veterans. |
