"<<The selective use of ellipses is a feeble attempt to bolster what is a weak argument>>"

The particular weak argument in question was yours. Do try to follow. There are ellipses in his thinking but not in his essay.

What Diaz is doing is making unfounded assertions and casting aspersions on the motives of those who oppose his theories. This is clearly meant to "poison the well" and make himself out to be the noble, unbiased, seeker of truth. I think you have paraphrased Diaz's argument quite well while engaging in the same logical fallacy yourself.

"Who would deny this other than a nut?"

That is intellectually dishonest!
