Curiously enough, according to Kitco, In the last 12 months, gold has only appreciated in US dollar terms by 10 percent. That means it underperformed the Euro, gold mining shares, oil/gas trusts, selling puts on gold mining shares, and my beloved real estate companies(latest is 2337.HK). Gold pays no interest, has to be guarded etc. etc. So the US dollar is sure to sink but there seem to be even solider protection available than gold.
