He has repeatedly said he didn't flip his story, for example here (a 1992 interview)

I know he has repeatedly said he didn't flip his story. What I find just a wee bit perturbing is that he obviously DID flip his story - 180 degrees! Saddam went from a grave danger to could and would ressucitate his BW program in six months, to somebody we shouldn't worry about - and this in the total absence of new information! And when asked, "why have you changed your story?" he has to chutzpah to reply, "I NEVER changed my story!". He doesn't even try to 'nuance' it. Just flatly denies it.

Then I learn he took $400,000 from Saddam via an Iraqi businessman.

As the old saying goes, I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night.
