Now, there is a fundamental mistake in thinking that homosexual marriage would not have a social impact that is worth taking account of before leaping. Tolerance of homosexuality is something that most people are capable of. Acceptance on the same basis as heterosexuality is not. Considering the difficulty of maintaining standards of sexual behavior in respect of promiscuity and infidelity, it is a mistake, I think, to treat the prevalent view of homosexuality as mere bigotry. All that does it sow more moral confusion throughout the land. We should leave the matter to the legislatures, and not tie anything to the faith and credit clause, so that, at least, a societal consensus can evolve on the matter........
