We have a highly negative view of such mergers. we thing the market would be hurt by any more consolidation." what about GTE? the GTE/T merger notion could be OK if GTE management gets the top spots from day one. if Robert Allen didn't retire immediately, he'd find some way to start sabotaging the deal. mark
