Dell Stock Gains Seen Tied To Revenue Rise
Forbes.com staff, 02.10.04, 1:56 PM ET

NEW YORK -

According to Goldman Sachs, Dell's (nasdaq: DELL - news - people ) fourth-quarter earnings report, scheduled to be released on Thursday, should be "generally in line and uneventful." Goldman Sachs said it expects Dell to make "generally encouraging" remarks about the enterprise market. "Although we see no reason to rush into the stock pre-earnings, we still look for Dell shares to follow a general pattern of appreciating in line with revenue growth, suggesting that we could see at least a 15% move over the intermediate term." The research house said that any weakness in the shares prior to, or immediately after, the report should be viewed as a buying opportunity. Goldman Sachs said: "With Dell's shares down 6% in the past two weeks, compared to a decline of 4% for the Nasdaq [composite] and 1% for the S&P 500, expectations seem relatively low heading into Dell's earnings report." Dell shares were up 59 cents at $33.52.
