The Democrats' scandal-manufacturing machinery is going full blast. They've blockaded the judicial appointment process. They've politicized the intelligence committees. Well, what can you really do? After having lost both houses of Congress and the Presidency because they continue to be out of synch with the American mainstream, they're desperate and willing to do anything, and I mean anything, to win. That desperation has set the tone of the 2004 election: the ends justify the means. Well, so be it! The poisonous atmosphere will probably remain this way until they are defeated, in a certain way, in November and start to act like a loyal opposition party. There are weighty second-term issues that this country needs to resolve on the national security front to keep our economy going.
