I'm sure you know there's a Constitutional amendment allowing a progressive income tax.

But if you count all taxes, especially the regressive payroll tax, you find taxation is actually pretty flat measured against income.

I think there should be a flat wealth tax. That is, if you own 1% of the nation's wealth, you should be paying 1% of the taxes.

But it doesn't work like that. The wealthy are paying nowhere near their fair share by that measure.

And the wealthy write the tax codes, what a shock.
