cable/internet is a still a minor source of news in the USA.

Really? Ok, maybe Internet, but the figures I’ve seen suggest that cable penetration is pretty high, and the news menu on cable is fairly extensive.

I wonder what percentage of the people who actually pay attention to news have Internet connections?

It’s funny, I go back and forth between trying to explain to my arch-liberal mother that “the media” are not controlled by the conservative corporate elite (which she believes with a dedication worthy of a better cause) and coming here and explaining that “the media” are not controlled by the vast liberal conspiracy. It’s amazing to see how many people who should know better treat “media” as a singular noun instead of a plural.

Anything looks biased if you look at it from a sufficiently extreme perspective.
