Powell knew what could work internationally.

Powell has maintained that the United States should wage a narrower campaign focused first and foremost on Al Qaeda, a cause for which he can rally--and sustain--strong international cooperation, sources say. The retired four-star general, who orchestrated Operation Desert Storm to oust Iraq from Kuwait in 1991, has also cautioned about the dangers of a wider military engagement with Iraq and other nations on a U.S. list of states that sponsor terrorism.

But then the neocons started dropping hints that Powell's son did not appreciate his cushy job prospects.

POWELL WANTS TO LEAVE FCC TOP POST - REPORT
By SUZANNE KAPNER and BEN SILVERMAN
Tells staff he's staying.

July 21, 2003 -- Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell -
whose plan to relax media ownership rules is facing stiff opposition in
Congress - has reportedly told close friends he wants to leave the agency by
fall.
Also weighing an exit strategy are three of Powell's top four staff members,
who have been putting out feelers for new jobs, reports Time magazine.
A FCC spokesman, reached yesterday by The Post, declined to comment on
Powell's plans or on the plans of any members of his staff.
And one well-placed insider said Powell recently told his staff he has no
intention of resigning.

Colin quickly saw the light and proceeded to tell the UN any wild story that Cheney asked, and show firetruck photos supplied by Rumsfeld, and insist that the attack had to be NOW because it was past labor day and Rove said it was time for midterm elections.

That has to be worst corruption since Scalia appointed Bush in return for a cushy job for his kid.
