This same phenomena occurred during the secular bear following the mania Go-Go peak in '66. An inflation adjusted picture of the market for that period exhibits the classic pattern of a secular bear. While the Dow kept hovering near 1000 in the period '66 to '82, the inflation adjusted picture is given by
