Telling the Truth Has Become Excruciating...

..for our nation's leaders. Bush's interview with Russert, and today's testimony by Greenspan. This is indelicate of me to say, but they seem like men in the midst of a painful bowel movement which they are desperately trying to *retain.* I grant that telling the truth has never been a wise choice for those who wish to obtain and retain political power. But I do think there are times when the *spread* between reality and what men in power are saying about that reality begins to widen, dramatically.

I believe we have entered such a period. Going forward, something has got to give.
