Mq, you are descrbing what I saw some 15 years ago:

The developing world participating in the world economy. Productivity up. Unemployment up. But there would be a surplus to pay for the unemployed to drink beer and watch soap opera and be out of the way.

Keep in mind that I am comparing with the Swedish model where they are relcutant to send home the ballast in the economy that are the people who can't add value to a modern economy. I am not calling them useless, I am telling that they had not proactively prepared themselves to the economy of the last decade and the follwoing ones.

Gerhard Schroeder is trying to say tgis to his German countrymen but they are not getting it.
