Well I think Al Qaeda is probably in Iraq now, but it wasn't BEFORE, because Saddam was a secularist and was completely at odds with AQ.. I wrote here on SI a year ago or so that the invasion would be like kicking open a hornets nest. Besides creating a vacuum for ALL factions to rush in to grab the power and honey..

It isn't a helluva of a lot different than the Balkans and old Yugoslavia which was held together by a strongman, Tito.. And when he went.. I haven't seen this mentioned before, but the analogy has some validity IMO.. Hell, before it is said and done, Turkey might be dragged in..

cougsthinktank.com.... Making more sense than the beltway ones and is a helluva of a lot cheaper..
