coug,

Have you read either of the Karl Rove biographies that came out last year?

If you had, you'd begin to be able to think about the world in the way that Rove does.

He sees that manipulating the news is one of his most important jobs. He has plenty of surrogates and accomplices within the media to help with this. After all, the CIA may have admitted to having planted 400 "journalists" in the U.S. media industry in the 1970s, but the CIA has never said that they've removed a single one.

So, the typical celebrity scandal serves the purpose of keeping the public from inquiring to closely into the inner sanctum of the White House, or of the corporate agenda.

But the Jackson boob job was of an entirely different character. It wasn't some celebrity making a fool and then getting caught out and providing lots of celebrity gossip as a filler and time waster.

The difference is that Jackson's boob has had a profound effect on the ability of censors to control the content coming through the 100 Million TV screens in America. That is a profoundly different thing from simple distraction.

If you don't get it, so be it.
