Were it a true call for Al Qaeda reinforcement, it wouldn't have become public. Since when has, and why would US intelligence become courrier for Al Qaeda? Agree completely.
the reading of the memo glorifies only the Bush Administration's objectives. This memo was meant only for FOXnews, the Washington Times and all of those radio guys and gals who'd carry the ball so easily given to them. I think it was also meant for some Shia's in Iraq, perhaps even some moderate Sunnis. The Republican modus operandi in the US has been get everyone riled up against an enemy. Victoria Clarke or whoever wrote that memo (or perhaps doctored a real one) is giving fence sitters in Iraq their very own enemy to hate, one that is NOT the US and NOT other Iraqis. That way, the Iraqis can unite in their mutual hatred of the "foreign" enemy, Al Qaeda, who is trying to split them apart, not the benevolent Uncle Sam, who can save them and give (drum roll please) DEMOCRACY.
But you're right, one of the primary audiences, perhaps even the primary audience, is Fox, Wash Times, and other people who are still disposed for some reason that I cannot begin to fathom to believe this administration. |
