Ted, do a search on "McCain-Feingold" and "campaign finance reform." Soft money was from the huge contributions made to the political parties, thus bypassing the limit individual donors can make.

Soros can get away with his contributions because the group he is supporting, Moveon.org, isn't officially affiliated with any political party. Of course, they just happened to support the very same things the Democrats support, but no law in the land can make that judgement without infringing on 1st amendment rights.
