I'm telling you, the real conservatives are the ones that are going to sink Bush. It doesn't matter if they are Republicans or Democrats (and some Democrats are conservative), if they are true to principle, they will not be able to vote for Bush. And real conservatives are almost always true to principle.

In a divided Dem/Rep country, that will be the swing vote. When conservative folks go into that voting booth, they are going to think about what Bush is going to leave for their children and grandchildren. Or maybe they will be so disgusted they won't vote at all.

John, I am the first to say that I am surprised that some conservatives are complaining. But to be honest, I think when push comes to shove, they will vote for Bush in November. Let's face it...........a year ago, Bush's policies and agenda were very clear. What's taken the conservatives so long to react? Clearly, the skyrocketing deficits have gotten their attention, but what choice do conservatives really have? There is no way that Kerry is not an alternative for them.

You had it right when you posted to Ten earlier. This is going to be one very ugly campaign and it threatens to tear this country apart. I am afraid the GOP has unestimated the level of anger in the general populace. I think they are about to find out.

Worse......the GOP is starting to behave like they did right after 9/11......trying to intimidate by questioning one's loyalties. Look at mph's post to me this AM. It harkens back to that time a year ago when the Dixie Chicks were getting death threats because they didn't like Bush.

No, its going to be very ugly! I am not looking forward to it.
