Malcolm,

You and Maurice are two of the best people I have ever encountered on the Internet. Without all this wonderful technology, your views and values are passed on to only those that are very close to you. Now hundreds of us get to share your views and perhaps spread them to others.

All this doom and gloom and hunkering down preparing for armageddon is worthless. In its worst form, it could become a self fulfilling prophacy. Sure there is danger each and every day. If you are lucky enough to wake up and can get out of bed each morning, any number of things can kill you.

It took us a long time to get out of the primordial slime and separate ouselves from other living organisms. Howver, it has only taken us a few thousand years to develop languages and start to record our history.

It has only been 100 years since Kitty Hawk and now we are on Mars. It was only 10 years ago that I had a 300 baud modem and 360k disk storage. Now you can't even give away that stuff to people in remote villages in India and China.

Sure we have had our ups and downs. Sure there are pious people who have faith and certain they are to be rewarded with eternal life and happiness. Yet, some of these same people subscribe to preemptively killing others so they can also enjoy earthly pleasures. You don't have to be Muslim to subscribe to that kind of madness.

It wasn't all that long ago when Viking marauders would go to the Bristish Isles and kill the Monks in their monestary. But look what happened. There are still a lot of Monks around today, but except for a few in Minnesota (many of whom are black), there are very few Vikings around. I don't believe the Monks ever took up arms.

But yet, what is the trend? I just didn't think you had to be that smart to recognize the trend.

Mary
