Thanks for the remarks to my questions. Yes, I do think that the 3GB is good marketing, but I'm still not convinced its good business. The fact of the matter is they are not cashflow positive and giving away $125 worth of product just doesn't sound good. I will assume that they are still making a profit with this deal, but Syquest needs their own income. This constant hemoraging of cash with 'outside investors' coming in to stop the bleeding makes me quite wary of this stock and if worst come to worst, it will be the stock holders holding the bag.
I look forward to their next quarterly report. I think their marketing is improving, their products are certainly competitive, and they have good ideas for future products. My skepticism would be greatly reduced if they could produce a better looking quarter then last. Personally, I don't believe they are selling enough Syjets to become profitable. This 3GB deal could very well get more product off the shelves, but at what cost?
As for the 810 Flyer, I hadn't heard of that possibility until today. Needless to say, it better have a strong price point and good priced media. Could the media really be $20? Where did you get that number? A 1GB Jaz disks can be found for about $75 (in quantity) rigth now. I find it hard to believe that they could get the media that cheap, at least initially.
I'll be keeping a closer eye on Syquest from now on. Especially Rocket (and now maybe the 810 Flyer) release dates. I'll wait til at least next quarter before I even think about dropping any cash into Syquest.
Good luck to you folks. Once again, I look forward to any responses.
