Nasty little Gus, re: Kerry's "sins against his fellow soldiers were..grave?" "Kerry will always be haunted by the wrong memories of the warriors he wronged for all time when he falsely accused them, at all levels, of being butchers and war criminals after he came home?"
Poor Gus, why is it necessary to address this silly assertion on a regular basis? Is it that you don't listen, or is it that you can't learn? Whichever it is, I'm not willing to let your lies fester.
The ugly truth is that the things Kerry said were happening were, in fact, happening with frequency in Vietnam in 68-69-70. If he'd been on the ground in the Delta or in the jungle areas around villages, he'd have seen it himself.
In Vietnam we blurred the lines between civilians and "soldiers" since the POPULATION often supported the OTHER SIDE. Our soldiers picked that up and often reacted as though it wasn't just the VC and the NVA that were the enemy, but rather a much larger category of "gooks."
A lot of unjustified killing and brutal atrocities occurred, and it was American men that were the ones responsible. There were bodies mutilated, necklaces of ears, rapes, thefts, killings, massacres and mistakes of extreme carelessness, and common brutalities. Not many of them were reported and even more rarely, were they investigated. Don't be so damn stupid that you can't understand human nature, read the firsthand reports and understand this.
What Kerry DID DO, is come home and do something FOR the soldiers that he left behind. He carried the message that the war was a waste of men. That we were misinformed at home about the conduct of the war, the morale of the men, the "open arms" of the Vietnamese, and the doability of the mission. Kerry knew that men were dying alone in Vietnam in a senseless cause conducting a dirty war, while men like Nixon were telling us that the war was going well and we were on the verge of "winning" it.
The men who WILL "always be haunted by the ... memories of the warriors [they] wronged for all time," will be men like McNamera, Nixon, Johnson, Kissinger and others who sent them into that place, at that time, for those reasons. And, maybe, men who, (like you're doing now,) sat up like puppets and cheered on cue with your eyes closed and your mouths open, chanting "We're number 1, We're number 1, We're number 1," while those men bled out their lives and their deaths ripped the hearts out of their mothers, fathers, wives and children.
You, and others who attempt to misrepresent Kerry's post-Vietnam activism as a betrayal of the troops and his country, exhibit the lowest form of despicable political behavior. You aren't fit to shine the shoes of REAL AMERICAN HEROS like Kerry and the other men who, whether they were for or against the war, fought, came home and voiced their consciences.
You, and your brethren mud slingers, should stop and take a look at yourselves. If you're not terribly ashamed, you should at least be man enough to admit that you have no scruples.
I hope that's clear. I hope you understand that many, if not most, veterans view your putrid remarks as obscene and ridiculous. I hope you bloat up with your vile gas ridden bile and explode where no one else can get hurt.
Well, at the least I hope that even you, in your fog, can see how I view you as a human being. |
