Actually, Tenet was appointed by Clinton, and if Kay were a real "Bush man", he would not have opined that there never were WMDs, so your point is rather bogus. As for the rest of it, things are actually going pretty well. There has been lots of diplomatic effort to repair relations with countries like France, on both sides, and Bush is treated with a reasonable degree of respect in the mainstream French press.

O'Neil, not knowing anything about foreign affairs, was surprised that Iraq was a hot issue, even though we maintained sanctions and overflights there, and were under pressure to ease up on the regime. He also did not know that it was the stated policy of the United States to pursue regime change in Iraq since '98. Thus, he was the one who was naive in taking amiss discussions about Iraq and how to handle it....... |
