In 2003, power consumption in the Moscow region reached new absolute highs

Based on results of 2003, electric power consumption in Moscow and Moscow region increased 5% and reached a new absolute high in the region's history – 79.2 bn kWt·h. Previously the historical maximum was reached in 2002 (75.4 bn kWt·h).

In 2003, AO MOSENERGO's power stations generated more electricity than in 2002, by 5.5% (75.1 bn kWt·h). The Company's own consumers received 57.9 bn kWt·h of electricity (1.7% more than in 2002).

To meet the growing power consumption needs in the region, AO MOSENERGO purchased electricity from other regions thus matching economic interests of the Moscow regional power system. Last year, the Company purchased at the national wholesale electricity market 2.86 bn kWt·h of electricity.

Last year, AO MOSENERGO supplied to consumers in Moscow and Moscow region 73.3 mn Gcal of heat (by 1.1% more than in 2002). The heat consumtion grwoth was caused by colder winter and longer heating period (by 6 days more than in 2002). Heat consumers used 68.5 mn Gcal (3.1% more than in 2002).

In 2004, AO MOSENERGO expects electricity consumption growth in the Moscow region by 3.3%.
