SPIL Sees Q4 Sales, Income Rise

Taiwanese assembly and test supplier Siliconware Precision Industries Co. Ltd. (SPIL) saw Q4 2003 sales revenues jump 11 percent sequentially and 31.1 percent year over year to $242.8 million (8 billion Taiwanese dollars), the company said today.

The Taichung, Taiwan-based SPIL reported net income of $41.8 million (1.4 billion T) in Q4, up from the previous quarter's net income of $33.6 million (1.1 billion T) and Q4 2002's net income of $1.5 million (50 million T). On a per share basis, SPIL posted earnings of 11 cents per American Depository Share.

For the full year, SPIL's sales revenue of $826 million (27.4 billion T), up 22.8 percent compared to the same period of year 2002. The company in turn reported net income for 2003 of $85.7 million (2.8 billion T), compared with a net income of $12.8 million (425 million T) in 2002.
