Fred, optical chips will still use pretty much the same
manufacturing techniques in use today...the materials will
change but will still need specialized equipment to
fabricate/manufacture the chips. AMAT will definitely still be involved. Optical chips are commonplace in the
telecom industry, INTC has developed a method of integrating micro-optical devices as logic using a
photonic communication/transmission bus instead of, or in conjuction with transistors....

Even if OLED's become a leading technology, there will still be room for legacy types of displays for years to come, but over time obsolescence will determine what technologies survive. BB
