Why I think the National Guard issue matters: It has nothing to do with what happened when Bush was in the National Guard. If he missed time, or if he was disciplined, whatever ... it doesn't matter. But if, as President, Bush lied to the American people, that matters! Just ask Bill Clinton. This is how most corporate execs become criminals. They don't start out to be a crook. They just tell a small lie (like fudge one quarter’s numbers) and then they have to fudge the next quarter a little more, and next thing you know, they are a full fledged criminal. That is how Clinton got in trouble. He thought he could hide the embarrassing incident with Monica, so he lied. And then he had to lie some more. And it slowly snowballed on him. This administration is trying to “manage” the problem. The sooner they handle the issue the right way and release his entire file, the sooner it will be over.
