As I understand it, Bush signed up for a six-year commitment with the first four of those years being involved with training to become a pilot. Isn't there a two-year active duty requirement during the last two years, where more show-up time is required? It turns out, then, that the eight months he got out of happened to be the period of time where he was required to serve the most time.

Bush probably should have received a General Discharge instead of an Honorable Discharge!
