Either friends or lovers implies a consentual relationship between those capable of giving consent. Why can five people not give consent to marriage? Why can an uncle and niece, both over 21, not give consent to marry? Why can a mother and son, both adults, not give consent to marry? For that matter, why, other than tradition and current law (and tradition and current law are what you're fighting against, since tradition and current law both deny gay marriage) can't a ten year old consent to have sex with their parent? Stop being hypocritical.
