Thanks for that link. I find the record of man's search for meaning fascinating, even though at one level my mind is pretty much made up as to a rational explanation for the search, for the disparity in "answers", and for the associated social rewards.

Still...we yet ask why is there something rather than nothing...and there is only silence. A personal "God" strikes me as ludicrous and just too too self serving. An eternal life for an ego entity seems more than ludicrous. Who could pick so many apples...and why?

No. We live and die just as all creatures do. Our thought and self awareness only began when brain structure reached a certain level. It will deteriorate and finally end for the same reasons. Without biological life there is clearly no mind. We can polish the silverware but it changes nothing.
