That particular notion is much more common than you probably think, and not just in the Smokies. In general, if marrying your cousin doesn't appeal to you, or marrying someone of a different race doesn't appeal to you, or if marrying someone of the same sex doesn't appeal to you, then don't do it. Just remember it's your own hangup and not some law of nature.
