That was so lovely! I think it is amazing that you can still appreciate snow in February, because I imagine you are getting to that place where winter seems eternal. I can only remember one or two snows here, so it is easy for us to get excited. It is a very ephemeral experience in Texas-- already it has stopped, and the trees are starting to drip. No crunching, squeaking steps for us; ours are mushy and wet.
The three little girls across the street are out and have already made a big snowman. He has no face yet that I can see, but is wearing a very stylish knit ski cap. They are now lying on the ground around him. For a brief moment, I thought they were worshipping him, but they're making snow angels.
The first time it snowed when the boys were little, we had no boots, and I wrapped their feet in baggies. There's not a lot of traction with baggies on your feet, but they slid gamely around the block, falling frequently. Ammo was just a toddler and didn't seem very happy about the whole thing. I was mad at him for not having fun. When we went in, I found the poor baby had a huge roll of hard icy snow trapped around the top of his diaper. I still feel guilty about that. |
