Brian, read what the Nat. Guard was like back then.......they were considered "weekend warriors". It was a way for people to get out of going to the Vietnam War. Remember this was the time of the draft. And the Air National Guard was the cream of the crop and very hard to get in.......unless, of course, your father was prominent politically.

I know full well what it was like. My father was in the National Guard at that time. Sorry to burst your bubble, but he was a poor minister's son who had no favors to call in. The smart people joined the National Guard _before_ their draft numbers were called up. The big press to join came after people were drafted.

You slight every member of the National Guard with your characterizations.
